Tanzania T-bill auction, 15 January 2014: 364-day at 15.26%, down 71 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 15 January 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 13.74% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 15.19% (down 39 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.26% (down 71 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 126.4bn against TZS 85.0bn on offer, 149% of the amount sought, and TZS 119.1bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 13.64% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.23%, so the government is paying 3 basis points more than twelve months ago.
