At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 December 2012, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 11.92% (up 5 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.12% (up 33 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.90% (up 43 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 104.5bn against TZS 125.0bn on offer, 84% of the amount sought, and TZS 85.0bn was accepted.
At 13.90%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 8 auctions of the past year.
