Mozambique T-bill auction, 7 February 2018: 364-day at 20.23%, down 47 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 February 2018, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 19.54% (down 46 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.66% (down 248 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 20.23% (down 47 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled MZN 4.4bn against MZN 3.0bn on offer, 146% of the amount sought, and MZN 2.2bn was accepted.
At 20.23%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 43 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 28.63%, so the government is paying 840 basis points less than twelve months ago.
