Mozambique T-bill auction, 25 October 2017: 364-day at 26.44%, down 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 25 October 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 24.59% (down 3 basis points), the 182-day bill at 25.08% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 26.44% (down 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 3.0bn against MZN 7.0bn on offer, 42% of the amount sought, and MZN 2.9bn was accepted.
At 26.44%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 31 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.50%, so the government is paying 1294 basis points more than twelve months ago.
