Mozambique T-bill auction, 18 October 2017: 364-day at 26.47%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 October 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 24.62% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 26.47% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 2.1bn against MZN 4.0bn on offer, 51% of the amount sought, and MZN 2.1bn was accepted.
At 26.47%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 30 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.50%, so the government is paying 1297 basis points more than twelve months ago.
