At the Treasury bill auction dated 23 August 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 364-day bill at 26.89% (down 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 1.1bn against MZN 3.0bn on offer, 36% of the amount sought, and MZN 880m was accepted.
At 26.89%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 22 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.50%, so the government is paying 1339 basis points more than twelve months ago.
