Mozambique T-bill auction, 16 August 2017: 364-day at 26.96%, down 29 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 16 August 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 182-day bill at 25.49% (up 31 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 26.96% (down 29 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 2.4bn against MZN 6.0bn on offer, 40% of the amount sought, and MZN 2.4bn was accepted.
At 26.96%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 21 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.50%, so the government is paying 1346 basis points more than twelve months ago.
