Malawi T-bill auction, 31 May 2016: 91-day at 28.97%, up 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 31 May 2016, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 28.97% (up 8 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 29.00% (unchanged). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 1.5bn and MWK 1.5bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 28.97%, the 91-day rate is the highest in the 18 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 25.11%, so the government is paying 386 basis points more than twelve months ago.
