Malawi T-bill auction, 12 January 2016: 182-day at 24.63%, up 412 bps

At the Treasury bill auction dated 12 January 2016, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 182-day bill at 24.63% (up 412 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.

Bids totalled MWK 3.5bn and MWK 3.5bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.

Over the past year the 182-day rate has ranged from 19.73% to 27.00%.

A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 26.85%, so the government is paying 222 basis points less than twelve months ago.
