Malawi T-bill auction, 6 January 2015: 91-day at 26.94%, up 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 January 2015, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 26.94% (up 9 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 26.85% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 25.7bn and MWK 25.7bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 26.94%, the 91-day rate is the highest in the 13 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 33.85%, so the government is paying 691 basis points less than twelve months ago.
