Egypt T-bill auction, 1 October 2024: 364-day at 26.24%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 1 October 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 29.60% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 29.18% (down 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 26.24% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 186.9bn against EGP 80.0bn on offer, 234% of the amount sought, and EGP 98.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 25.75% to 32.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 25.83%, so the government is paying 41 basis points more than twelve months ago.
