Egypt T-bill auction, 27 August 2024: 364-day at 26.24%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 August 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 29.62% (up 56 basis points), the 182-day bill at 28.86% (up 60 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 26.24% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 230.8bn against EGP 95.0bn on offer, 243% of the amount sought, and EGP 85.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 25.37% to 32.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 25.09%, so the government is paying 115 basis points more than twelve months ago.
