Egypt T-bill auction, 21 May 2024: 364-day at 25.98%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 May 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 25.94% (down 3 basis points), the 182-day bill at 25.99% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 25.98% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 167.6bn against EGP 75.0bn on offer, 224% of the amount sought, and EGP 74.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 23.47% to 32.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 23.70%, so the government is paying 229 basis points more than twelve months ago.
