Egypt T-bill auction, 6 February 2024: 364-day at 27.66%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 February 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 26.61% (up 46 basis points), the 182-day bill at 26.99% (up 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 27.66% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 129.8bn against EGP 105.0bn on offer, 124% of the amount sought, and EGP 10.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 22.13% to 27.69%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 21.95%, so the government is paying 571 basis points more than twelve months ago.
