Egypt T-bill auction, 30 January 2024: 364-day at 27.69%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 January 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 26.14% (up 17 basis points), the 182-day bill at 26.96% (up 56 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 27.69% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 125.7bn against EGP 110.0bn on offer, 114% of the amount sought, and EGP 70.1bn was accepted.
At 27.69%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 52 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 21.84%, so the government is paying 584 basis points more than twelve months ago.
