Egypt T-bill auction, 24 May 2022: 364-day at 13.64%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 May 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.13% (down 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.66% (down 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.64% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 52.2bn against EGP 33.0bn on offer, 158% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 13.69%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.35%, so the government is paying 29 basis points more than twelve months ago.
