Egypt T-bill auction, 17 May 2022: 364-day at 13.62%, down 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 May 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.20% (up 11 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.68% (up 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 13.62% (down 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 54.3bn against EGP 33.5bn on offer, 162% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 13.69%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.36%, so the government is paying 26 basis points more than twelve months ago.
