Egypt T-bill auction, 8 March 2022: 364-day at 13.21%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 March 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.30% (down 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.30% (up 22 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.21% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 37.2bn against EGP 23.0bn on offer, 162% of the amount sought, and EGP 12.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 13.38%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.22%, so the government is paying 1 basis point less than twelve months ago.
