Egypt T-bill auction, 11 January 2022: 364-day at 13.22%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 January 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.31% (down 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.09% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 13.22% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 82.6bn against EGP 23.0bn on offer, 359% of the amount sought, and EGP 24.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.88% to 13.38%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.95%, so the government is paying 28 basis points more than twelve months ago.
