Egypt T-bill auction, 14 December 2021: 364-day at 13.28%, down 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 December 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.06% (down 19 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.46% (down 13 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.28% (down 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 89.1bn against EGP 21.5bn on offer, 415% of the amount sought, and EGP 29.1bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.67% to 13.38%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.29%, so the government is paying 1 basis point less than twelve months ago.
