Egypt T-bill auction, 26 October 2021: 364-day at 13.18%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 October 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.38% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 12.63% (up 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.18% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 67.1bn against EGP 22.0bn on offer, 305% of the amount sought, and EGP 41.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.67% to 13.68%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.51%, so the government is paying 34 basis points less than twelve months ago.
