Egypt T-bill auction, 5 October 2021: 364-day at 13.06%, up 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 October 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.26% (down 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.55% (down 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.06% (up 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 69.2bn against EGP 21.5bn on offer, 322% of the amount sought, and EGP 26.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.67% to 13.68%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.60%, so the government is paying 55 basis points less than twelve months ago.
