Egypt T-bill auction, 21 September 2021: 364-day at 13.03%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 September 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.34% (down 14 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.61% (down 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.03% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 79.8bn against EGP 27.0bn on offer, 296% of the amount sought, and EGP 34.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.67% to 13.68%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.65%, so the government is paying 63 basis points less than twelve months ago.
