Egypt T-bill auction, 20 April 2021: 364-day at 13.37%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 April 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.11% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 13.38% (down 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.37% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 63.6bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 227% of the amount sought, and EGP 40.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.45% to 13.84%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.24%, so the government is paying 113 basis points more than twelve months ago.
