Egypt T-bill auction, 9 February 2021: 364-day at 13.16%, down 16 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 February 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.75% (down 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.06% (down 13 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.16% (down 16 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 80.5bn against EGP 23.8bn on offer, 339% of the amount sought, and EGP 48.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 14.71%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.28%, so the government is paying 112 basis points less than twelve months ago.
