Egypt T-bill auction, 26 January 2021: 364-day at 13.00%, up 11 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 January 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.68% (up 20 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.89% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.00% (up 11 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 36.1bn against EGP 23.8bn on offer, 152% of the amount sought, and EGP 23.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 14.71%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.74%, so the government is paying 74 basis points less than twelve months ago.
