Egypt T-bill auction, 12 January 2021: 364-day at 12.87%, down 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 12 January 2021, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.55% (down 18 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.79% (down 13 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.87% (down 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 58.6bn against EGP 23.8bn on offer, 247% of the amount sought, and EGP 30.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 14.71%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.62%, so the government is paying 175 basis points less than twelve months ago.
