Egypt T-bill auction, 29 December 2020: 364-day at 12.77%, up 10 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 December 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.63% (up 17 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.73% (up 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.77% (up 10 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 26.8bn against EGP 25.5bn on offer, 105% of the amount sought, and EGP 10.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 14.71%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.57%, so the government is paying 181 basis points less than twelve months ago.
