Egypt T-bill auction, 27 October 2020: 364-day at 13.59%, up 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 October 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.39% (up 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.45% (up 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.59% (up 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 50.5bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 180% of the amount sought, and EGP 31.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 15.12%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.18%, so the government is paying 159 basis points less than twelve months ago.
