Egypt T-bill auction, 20 October 2020: 364-day at 13.51%, up 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 October 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.30% (up 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.37% (up 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.51% (up 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 54.1bn against EGP 29.5bn on offer, 183% of the amount sought, and EGP 29.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 15.18%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.24%, so the government is paying 172 basis points less than twelve months ago.
