Egypt T-bill auction, 9 June 2020: 364-day at 12.46%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 June 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.36% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 12.51% (up 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 12.46% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 42.6bn against EGP 20.0bn on offer, 213% of the amount sought, and EGP 31.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 17.50%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 17.34%, so the government is paying 488 basis points less than twelve months ago.
