Egypt T-bill auction, 2 June 2020: 364-day at 12.47%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 June 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.36% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 12.50% (down 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.47% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 30.9bn against EGP 30.5bn on offer, 101% of the amount sought, and EGP 21.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 17.50%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 17.26%, so the government is paying 478 basis points less than twelve months ago.
