Egypt T-bill auction, 5 May 2020: 364-day at 12.60%, up 14 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 May 2020, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.58% (up 14 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.58% (up 14 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.60% (up 14 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 47.0bn against EGP 29.5bn on offer, 159% of the amount sought, and EGP 29.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.24% to 17.50%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 17.03%, so the government is paying 443 basis points less than twelve months ago.
