Egypt T-bill auction, 5 November 2019: 364-day at 15.12%, down 6 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 November 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 15.86% (down 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.82% (down 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 15.12% (down 6 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 38.6bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 138% of the amount sought, and EGP 22.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.92% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.81%, so the government is paying 469 basis points less than twelve months ago.
