Egypt T-bill auction, 29 October 2019: 364-day at 15.18%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 October 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 15.90% (down 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.84% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.18% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 55.7bn against EGP 28.3bn on offer, 197% of the amount sought, and EGP 28.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.92% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.88%, so the government is paying 470 basis points less than twelve months ago.
