Egypt T-bill auction, 8 October 2019: 364-day at 15.52%, up 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 October 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 15.93% (up 33 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.85% (up 9 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.52% (up 15 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 33.5bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 120% of the amount sought, and EGP 21.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.92% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.62%, so the government is paying 411 basis points less than twelve months ago.
