Egypt T-bill auction, 9 July 2019: 364-day at 17.38%, up 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 July 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 17.91% (up 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 17.82% (up 9 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.38% (up 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 29.9bn against EGP 28.0bn on offer, 107% of the amount sought, and EGP 23.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 17.00% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.11%, so the government is paying 173 basis points less than twelve months ago.
