Egypt T-bill auction, 2 July 2019: 364-day at 17.32%, up 6 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 July 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 17.79% (up 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 17.74% (up 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.32% (up 6 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 36.6bn against EGP 28.3bn on offer, 130% of the amount sought, and EGP 28.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 17.00% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.93%, so the government is paying 160 basis points less than twelve months ago.
