Egypt T-bill auction, 14 May 2019: 364-day at 17.27%, up 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 May 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 17.53% (up 3 basis points), the 182-day bill at 17.44% (up 12 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.27% (up 9 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 40.1bn against EGP 26.5bn on offer, 151% of the amount sought, and EGP 20.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 17.00% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 17.02%, so the government is paying 25 basis points more than twelve months ago.
