Egypt T-bill auction, 7 May 2019: 364-day at 17.18%, up 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 May 2019, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 17.50% (up 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 17.32% (up 10 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 17.18% (up 15 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 37.2bn against EGP 27.3bn on offer, 136% of the amount sought, and EGP 25.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 17.00% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.93%, so the government is paying 25 basis points more than twelve months ago.
