Egypt T-bill auction, 25 December 2018: 364-day at 19.98%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 25 December 2018, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 19.85% (up 7 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.98% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 19.98% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 55.8bn against EGP 28.5bn on offer, 196% of the amount sought, and EGP 44.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.43% to 19.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.06%, so the government is paying 192 basis points more than twelve months ago.
