Egypt T-bill auction, 11 December 2018: 364-day at 19.98%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 December 2018, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 19.60% (up 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.98% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 19.98% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 42.4bn against EGP 28.3bn on offer, 150% of the amount sought, and EGP 30.3bn was accepted.
At 19.98%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 52 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.48%, so the government is paying 149 basis points more than twelve months ago.
