Egypt T-bill auction, 6 November 2018: 364-day at 19.78%, down 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 November 2018, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 19.42% (down 29 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.75% (down 11 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 19.78% (down 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 50.9bn against EGP 28.3bn on offer, 180% of the amount sought, and EGP 25.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.43% to 19.88%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 17.69%, so the government is paying 209 basis points more than twelve months ago.
