Egypt T-bill auction, 21 August 2018: 364-day at 18.97%, up 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 August 2018, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 18.84% (up 23 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.17% (up 27 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 18.97% (up 15 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 39.4bn against EGP 25.0bn on offer, 158% of the amount sought, and EGP 25.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.43% to 19.44%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.70%, so the government is paying 26 basis points more than twelve months ago.
