Egypt T-bill auction, 14 August 2018: 364-day at 18.81%, up 10 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 August 2018, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 18.61% (up 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 18.89% (down 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 18.81% (up 10 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 36.5bn against EGP 25.0bn on offer, 146% of the amount sought, and EGP 23.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.43% to 19.44%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 19.35%, so the government is paying 53 basis points less than twelve months ago.
