Egypt T-bill auction, 17 July 2018: 364-day at 19.38%, down 6 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 July 2018, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 19.36% (down 33 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.61% (down 18 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 19.38% (down 6 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 71.2bn against EGP 25.0bn on offer, 285% of the amount sought, and EGP 24.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 16.43% to 21.71%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 20.98%, so the government is paying 160 basis points less than twelve months ago.
