Egypt T-bill auction, 21 May 2018: 91-day at 17.57%, down 56 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 May 2018, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 17.57% (down 56 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 12.9bn against EGP 8.5bn on offer, 151% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 17.45% to 22.52%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 19.33%, so the government is paying 177 basis points less than twelve months ago.
