Egypt T-bill auction, 12 December 2017: 364-day at 18.76%, up 27 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 12 December 2017, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 19.26% (up 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 19.25% (up 20 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 18.76% (up 27 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 43.5bn against EGP 20.5bn on offer, 212% of the amount sought, and EGP 21.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 17.65% to 21.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.51%, so the government is paying 25 basis points more than twelve months ago.
