Egypt T-bill auction, 31 May 2016: 364-day at 13.91%, down 18 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 31 May 2016, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.86% (down 9 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.91% (down 18 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 24.1bn against EGP 9.5bn on offer, 254% of the amount sought, and EGP 9.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.13% to 14.41%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.94%, so the government is paying 197 basis points more than twelve months ago.
