Egypt T-bill auction, 30 December 2014: 364-day at 11.94%, up 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 December 2014, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.65% (up 19 basis points), the 182-day bill at 11.77% (up 15 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.94% (up 15 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 20.8bn against EGP 9.5bn on offer, 219% of the amount sought, and EGP 9.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.74% to 12.52%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.23%, so the government is paying 71 basis points more than twelve months ago.
